The Ghana Police Service says Harold Norman, husband of actress and fashion personality Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned immediately after leaving hospital in connection with allegations of domestic abuse.
Norman was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, but his lawyer informed investigators that he had been hospitalized and could not attend. Officers from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) subsequently visited the facility to verify the information and are monitoring the situation.
According to police, the investigation followed a petition submitted by Nana Akua Addo to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department on August 20, 2026. She alleged that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27. Investigators obtained a caution statement from him before granting him police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29, while inquiries continued.
Police said preliminary investigations also established that DOVVSU officers at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations had previously handled a matter involving the couple in July 2026.
The update comes amid public concern following the circulation of videos and images purportedly linked to the alleged abuse.
The CID said it was coordinating with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to arrange social welfare support for Nana Akua Addo and her children. It also urged the public to trust the investigative process, pledging to handle the complaint professionally and fairly.
