Nollywood actress and media personality Nancy Isime has generated debate on social media after declaring that she would not disclose her financial details to a romantic partner, including a future husband.
Speaking on the Thanks for Coming podcast, the Blood Sisters actress said maintaining financial privacy is one of the firm boundaries she has established for her relationships.
“I will never discuss three things: my money, my money, my money,” she stated.
Isime explained that the rule applies equally to both partners. While she would not disclose her earnings or bank balance, she also has no interest in knowing how much her partner earns or holds in his accounts.
When asked how such an arrangement would work in a marriage where two people are expected to build a life together, the actress maintained her position and questioned why full financial disclosure should be considered necessary.
Isime also said she does not check her partner’s phone and would not support the practice in a relationship. She advised women against constantly monitoring their partners’ devices, arguing that it could create unnecessary anxiety and negatively affect their mental health.
Her remarks have divided opinion online. Some supporters praised her emphasis on independence, personal boundaries and financial security.
Critics, however, argued that married couples need a reasonable level of financial transparency to prepare budgets, manage household responsibilities, respond to emergencies and build long-term wealth together.
Others suggested that while individuals may maintain separate accounts, major financial obligations, debts and shared goals should be openly discussed before marriage.
The debate has since expanded beyond celebrity commentary, raising broader questions about privacy, trust and financial responsibility in modern relationships.
