Nollywood actor Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, popularly known as CJay Nwoks, has died at a medical facility in the Badore area of Lagos State.

The actor died on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, hours before the scheduled release of Egusi Ogbono, a film in which he played the lead role.

Actress and filmmaker Nkechi Blessing Sunday announced his death in an emotional video recorded at the hospital. She said doctors had confirmed his passing.

The film, produced by Nkechi Blessing, was due to premiere at 5 p.m. that day. Its release has since been postponed indefinitely following the actor’s death.

The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.

Originally from Awka in Anambra State, CJay Nwoks began his professional acting career in 2021. His screen credits included Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day to My Wedding, The Lies She Tell and What Time Left.

Actor Emeka Okoye paid tribute to his colleague, describing the loss as particularly painful because CJay’s career was gaining momentum. He also remembered him as a talented baker who used his skills to support others.

Okoye subsequently shared details of a service of songs scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 4 p.m.

The service will take place at RCCG Maranatha Church, Lagos Province 23 headquarters, at 21–23 Layori Soetan Street, near Oremiji Roundabout in Ifako, Gbagada, Lagos. Attendees have been asked to wear white.

Family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers have been invited to honor the late actor. Further burial arrangements had not been made public in the announcement.
