Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has revealed that he is experiencing difficulty walking and recurring swelling in parts of his body, although he remains hopeful of recovery.
The 79-year-old actor spoke about his health during a visit to ailing Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah in Accra. A video of their meeting has since circulated online.
“Walking is a problem for me now, but I still have hope that I will recover myself,” Edochie said.
He explained that he sometimes wakes up with swollen parts of his body, adding that the swelling usually subsides after a while. During the conversation, he pointed to his hand as an example.
Despite his own difficulties, Edochie prayed for Armah and offered financial assistance towards his care.
The actor also reflected on ageing, faith and his wish not to become a burden to those around him. He said he continued to entrust his life to God, praying that when his time came, his passing would not bring prolonged strain to his loved ones.
Edochie extended the same message of hope to Armah, expressing confidence that his colleague could recover.
His visit coincided with activities in Ghana connected to the Pete Edochie Legacy Project, which celebrates his contribution to African cinema and storytelling.
