Ghanaian music stars Shatta Wale and Medikal have teamed up with the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to promote locally produced gold jewellery as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s downstream gold industry.
The partnership was sealed during a high-profile courtesy visit by the two artistes to GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., at the board’s headquarters in Accra.
The collaboration aligns with the government’s broader economic agenda of promoting local value addition, encouraging domestic gold processing, and reducing reliance on the export of raw minerals.
Musicians to Champion Ghanaian Gold Products
Under the agreement, Shatta Wale and Medikal will serve as strategic ambassadors for GoldBod jewellery, using their influence in Ghana and internationally to showcase locally manufactured gold products.
The artistes are expected to promote the craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and quality of Ghanaian-made gold pieces through various entertainment platforms.
Shatta Wale to Showcase GoldBod Jewellery Globally
As part of the promotional drive, Shatta Wale will feature GoldBod jewellery at his highly anticipated Shatta Fest UK concert in August 2026, where the products will be introduced to international audiences.
The global showcase is expected to provide a platform for Ghanaian jewellery designers and gold artisans to gain wider recognition.
Music and Digital Platforms to Drive Promotion
Both artistes have committed to featuring authentic Ghanaian-crafted gold pieces in their upcoming music videos, public appearances, and stage performances.
They will also use their extensive social media platforms to highlight the designs, craftsmanship, and luxury appeal of locally produced jewellery.
Through their combined fan base, the partnership aims to position Ghanaian gold jewellery as a premium brand within the global fashion and lifestyle market.
Boosting Local Industry and Job Creation
GoldBod said the collaboration forms part of efforts to transform Ghana’s gold sector by expanding opportunities beyond mining and exporting raw gold.
The initiative is expected to support local goldsmiths, jewellery designers, manufacturers, and other players within the value chain by creating sustainable employment opportunities.
Retaining More Value from Ghana’s Gold Resources
For decades, Ghana has exported significant quantities of gold in raw form, limiting opportunities to capture additional value through processing and manufacturing.
The partnership seeks to reverse that trend by promoting refined gold products and locally manufactured jewellery, helping retain more economic benefits within the country.
By combining Ghana’s mining, fashion, and entertainment industries, the collaboration aims to build a globally competitive Made-in-Ghana gold brand while increasing economic value from the country’s natural resources.
