Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has publicly expressed frustration with members of his management team, claiming that he remains solely responsible for finding sponsorships and other revenue-generating opportunities for the Shatta Movement brand.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session with his fans, the award-winning artiste alleged that members of his inner circle had failed to introduce any significant financial deal during their time working with him.
“In my crew, no member in there can say they have brought some financial deal to help me. I always go and bring the money deals,” he said.
Shatta Wale argued that an effective management team should not only coordinate performances and media engagements but should also identify sponsorships, negotiate partnerships and develop new commercial opportunities around an artiste’s brand.
The musician directed part of his criticism at broadcaster and public relations executive Samuel Atuobi Baah, popularly known as Sammy Flex. He questioned why Sammy Flex’s online program was spending time discussing his longtime industry rival, Stonebwoy, instead of exploring ideas that could generate revenue for the Shatta Movement.
His comments have renewed public scrutiny of the working relationship between the two. Sammy Flex initially handled broad artiste-management responsibilities before Shatta Wale restructured his team in July 2025 and reassigned him to focus specifically on media and public relations.
Under that structure, Jawaid Abdallah Sika was appointed general manager for bookings and requests, while Gifty Nkrumah became road manager. Solomon Ashong was placed in charge of regional merchandising, with other personnel assigned to personal assistance and music production.
Sammy Flex previously rejected suggestions that the change amounted to his dismissal or demotion. He described it as a strategic division of responsibilities, arguing that managing the Shatta Movement brand was too demanding for one person.
“The Shatta Movement job is not a one-person job. Those who are closer to it understand it, and they know that you can’t do it alone,” he said while responding to the restructuring.
Shatta Wale’s latest outburst comes after his planned UK performance was disrupted by an overcrowding incident at the entrance to Ghana Party in the Park in North London. Several people sustained injuries that police described as non-life-threatening, prompting organizers to pause the event and advise others not to travel to the venue.
Despite his criticism, Shatta Wale has not announced that Sammy Flex or any other member of the current team has been dismissed. His remarks instead appear to signal growing pressure on the management structure to deliver stronger commercial results and reduce the musician’s personal involvement in securing deals.
