Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has explained the personal reason he invited his father, popularly known as Shatta Capo, on stage during his Shattafest birthday concert.
The musician said he wanted his father to see the fans who have supported his career and to reflect on their earlier disagreements over his decision to pursue music.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session, Shatta Wale recalled that his father initially wanted him to follow a different professional path. The artiste has previously said his father hoped he would become a lawyer or a pilot.
A personal moment before the fans
Shatta Wale said the difference in their expectations led to disagreements during his early years as an aspiring musician. He recalled leaving home as he worked to establish himself in the music industry.
By bringing his father onto the stage, he said, he wanted him to witness the audience that had embraced his music and supported him over the years.
Shattafest brought thousands of fans to the Accra Sports Stadium for performances and a celebration of the musician’s birthday.
A close relationship
Despite their earlier differences, Shatta Wale said his relationship with his father has grown stronger, describing him as his “best friend.”
For the dancehall artiste, sharing the stage with Shatta Capo was an opportunity to celebrate both their relationship and the support he continues to receive from his fans.
