Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has pledged GH¢50,000 to fans who volunteered to clean the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of his ShattaFest 2026 concert.
Announcing the reward on stage, the artiste thanked members of his Shatta Movement fanbase for helping prepare the venue.
The volunteers reportedly worked late into the night after the stadium hosted the 10th Triennial World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress, which ended on October 16. Their efforts helped ready the grounds for the concert the following day.
Shatta Wale said the cash pledge was intended to recognise the fans who led the cleanup. Details of how the money would be distributed were not provided in the announcement.
The concert also featured a birthday surprise from actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown, who joined Shatta Wale on stage, sang for him and reportedly presented him with $50,000.
Held in partnership with MobileMoney Fintech Limited under the ShattaFest x MoMoFest banner, the event combined entertainment with efforts to promote the adoption of digital financial services.
Medikal, Fancy Gadam, Sista Afia, Edem and Patapaa were among the artistes who performed before the large crowd.
However, some of Shatta Wale’s remarks during his performance attracted criticism online. He appeared to defend friends involved in internet fraud, citing economic hardship and alleging that corrupt government officials evade accountability.
Those comments prompted debate over the influence of public figures and whether financial difficulties could justify criminal conduct, drawing attention alongside the concert’s performances and his pledge to the volunteers.
