Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale briefly interrupted his performance at ShattaFest in Ho after a disagreement with his disc jockey, DJ Alinko, over a music transition.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, October 3, 2026, during the festival’s second edition at the Youth Resource Centre in the Volta Regional capital.
According to reports, the confrontation began when the DJ changed tracks or mistimed a transition during the set. In footage circulating online, Shatta Wale is heard addressing him angrily, saying: “You think we are playing here? I will slap you!”
The musician’s head of security, Abonko, reportedly approached the DJ booth and gestured towards Alinko, indicating that concerns about his mixing had already been raised.
DJ Alinko remained calm during the brief exchange, and Shatta Wale subsequently continued his performance.
Later in the evening, the musician adopted a more conciliatory tone, performing “Putuu” by his long-time industry rival Stonebwoy and encouraging the audience to embrace peace and support artists from the Volta Region.
The confrontation has prompted mixed reactions on social media. Some users criticized Shatta Wale’s treatment of his colleague, describing the public rebuke as humiliating, while others viewed the outburst as characteristic of his unpredictable stage performances.
