Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has reaffirmed his deep respect and lifelong appreciation for his former mentor and music icon Samini, insisting that no past disagreements or future challenges can erase the bond they share.
Speaking during a heartfelt live TikTok interaction with fans, the BHIM Nation president described Samini as a key figure in his life and credited him with laying the foundation for his successful music career.
Stonebwoy said their relationship extends far beyond music, describing Samini as a big brother who played a major role in shaping his journey from an aspiring artiste to an internationally recognised performer.
Samini Discovered Stonebwoy’s Talent in SHS
Stonebwoy recalled that Samini first noticed his musical ability while he was still a student in Senior High School.
According to the award-winning artiste, he was in SHS 2 or SHS 3 when Samini discovered his potential and promised that they would officially work together after he completed school.
Stonebwoy said Samini remained true to that commitment and welcomed him into his camp immediately after his graduation.
Mentor Treated Him Like Family
The “Putuu” hitmaker explained that Samini did not treat him merely as a professional mentee but embraced him as a younger brother.
He revealed that early in his career, Samini gave him personal support and even accommodated him at his father’s home, helping him transition into the competitive music industry.
Reflecting on their relationship, Stonebwoy said:
“He is someone in my life; he cannot do anything for me to despise him. There is nothing that could ever make me loathe him, whether it is good or bad.”
From Samini Music to International Success
Stonebwoy began his professional career under the guidance of the Samini Music / High-Grade Family camp during the mid-2000s.
The mentorship provided him with an important platform, helping him gain early exposure and release songs that introduced him to a wider Ghanaian audience, including the popular track “Climax.”
He later established his own brand, BHIM Nation, and built a successful solo career that has earned him international recognition, multiple awards, and a reputation as one of Africa’s leading dancehall and Afrobeats artistes.
Public Disagreements Did Not End Their Relationship
Over the years, Stonebwoy and Samini experienced moments of public disagreement and creative tension, leading to speculation about the state of their relationship.
However, both artistes eventually reconciled, making it clear that their connection remained stronger than professional differences.
As a sign of their renewed relationship, it was announced that Samini would join Stonebwoy as a special legendary guest performer at the upcoming BHIM Festival in London, celebrating their shared musical history.
Stonebwoy’s latest comments highlight the lasting influence of mentorship in Ghana’s music industry and his continued gratitude toward the veteran artiste who helped launch his journey.
