Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has spoken candidly about her hopes of expanding her family, revealing that she has frozen some of her eggs to preserve the possibility of having more children in the future.
The award-winning singer said she would particularly like to have more boys and decided to undergo the fertility-preservation procedure after considering her age and future plans.
“I want more children, boys. I have actually done egg freezing. I’m just preparing,” Savage said.
“Like I said, I am not young. I am thinking about my age and want to get my eggs while they are still very healthy.”
The music star is already the mother of a son, Jamil, whom she welcomed in July 2015 with her former husband and music executive Tunji “TeeBillz” Balogun.
Her comments reflect an increasingly public conversation about fertility, motherhood and the choices available to women who may want to delay pregnancy because of their careers, relationships, finances or other personal circumstances.

“I don’t know if I want more kids, but I decided to freeze my eggs just in case,” she said in that interview. “You never really know what the future holds, so why not prepare for it?”
Savage also reflected on becoming a mother in her 30s, explaining that she felt more emotionally grounded and financially secure at that stage of her life.
Although she valued the timing of her motherhood journey, she acknowledged that she wished she had explored egg freezing earlier.
Her advice was not limited to women currently seeking pregnancy. She argued that learning about fertility options could help women make more informed decisions about their reproductive futures.
The singer also expressed concern about the high cost of egg freezing and other assisted reproductive procedures. She said access should not be restricted to celebrities or people with substantial disposable incomes.
The process can involve medical consultations, hormone treatments, egg-retrieval procedures, laboratory preservation and continuing storage fees. These expenses make the option inaccessible to many women across Africa and other parts of the world.
Savage therefore called for fertility services to become more affordable and widely available, allowing more women to consider them regardless of their financial or social status.
Her remarks have added to the wider discussion about the pressures women face when balancing fertility with education, career advancement, financial stability and relationships.
They have also highlighted the importance of accurate reproductive health information. Decisions about egg freezing depend on individual factors, including age, medical history, ovarian reserve and personal circumstances, and should be discussed with a qualified fertility specialist.
