The National Theatre of Ghana came alive with music, dance, and celebration as Vivie’s Dance and Theatre Academy (VDTA) commemorated its 10th anniversary with the highly anticipated Sparkle Day 2026 production.
The landmark event attracted a full house, with parents, guardians, alumni, partners, and supporters gathering to celebrate a decade of nurturing young talent through the performing arts. Under the theme “EvoluXion: Find X,” the production highlighted the academy’s journey of developing creativity, confidence, discipline, and leadership in children and young people.
The anniversary showcase combined artistic excellence with inspiring stories of growth, resilience, and community, making it one of the academy’s most memorable productions to date.
A Night of Creativity and Inspiration
The celebration welcomed a distinguished audience that included renowned creative entrepreneur Chief Moomen, founder of the Bambu Centre, alongside government officials, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, education stakeholders, and hundreds of families.
From the opening performance, the audience was captivated by a series of well-choreographed presentations featuring ballet, contemporary dance, African dance, acrobatics, taekwondo, skating, drama, and music.
Each performance reflected months of rigorous rehearsals and demonstrated the technical skills, discipline, and confidence developed by students across various age groups.
Highlights of the evening included the emotionally moving Home and Church Ballet performances, a daring skating display, and several dramatic stage productions that showcased the academy’s commitment to holistic arts education.

One of the evening’s most touching moments came when a few of the youngest performers stumbled briefly during their routines.
Rather than focusing on the mistakes, the audience responded with enthusiastic applause, cheers, and encouragement, creating an atmosphere of warmth and support throughout the theatre.

In her anniversary address, Founder and Chief Executive Officer Vivian Boateng reflected on the academy’s remarkable journey over the past decade, describing it as one built on purpose, passion, faith, and perseverance.
She emphasized that Africa is increasingly becoming a global center for innovation, creativity, and leadership, and encouraged young people to see themselves as part of that transformation.” Whether you are fully conscious of it or not, the world is looking to Africa—not as a future possibility, but as a present reality. The innovators, leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who will shape tomorrow are already emerging today, and the young performers on this stage are part of that story,” she said.
Vivian Boateng explained that the academy’s mission extends far beyond teaching dance and performance.
“Our students are learning not only how to dance, act, sing, and perform; they are learning how to communicate, collaborate, create, and lead,” she added.
She also expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for their unwavering support, describing them as indispensable partners in the academy’s success.
10K Legacy Project Launched
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the academy officially unveiled its 10K Legacy Project, an ambitious initiative aimed at expanding access to quality performing arts education for thousands more children and young people across Ghana.
The project seeks to remove barriers to arts education while creating opportunities for more young people to develop life skills through creative expression.
A key component of the initiative focuses on building long-term capacity within Ghana’s creative economy by training and certifying a new generation of arts educators.
According to the academy, educators will be equipped with creative and holistic movement methodologies that can be integrated into schools and community programs, helping to broaden access to arts education while creating sustainable employment opportunities.
The initiative is expected to strengthen Ghana’s performing arts ecosystem and inspire more young people to pursue careers in the creative industry.
