Pharmanova Limited and Danpong Healthcare have donated pharmaceutical products valued at GH¢20,000 to the Graphic Communications Group Ltd in support of its annual free health screening exercise.
Each company contributed medicines and tablets worth GH¢10,000 as part of its corporate social responsibility activities and commitment to improving access to essential healthcare services.
The medicines will be distributed during GCGL’s community health screening exercise scheduled for September 19. The program is expected to benefit residents of Adabraka and neighboring communities.
Beyond providing free medication, the exercise will give participants access to basic health assessments and information on preventive care. It will also support the early detection of conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol.
These illnesses can develop without noticeable symptoms, making regular medical examinations important for early diagnosis and treatment. However, the cost of screenings and medication often prevents financially vulnerable people from seeking timely care.
GCGL’s annual initiative seeks to address that challenge by taking basic healthcare services directly to the community. Participants identified as having potential health concerns are also expected to receive guidance on seeking further medical attention.
Presenting Pharmanova’s contribution, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, David Kafui Klutse, said supporting community-based preventive healthcare was consistent with its mission of giving back to society.
He indicated that initiatives such as GCGL’s screening exercise could help people identify health risks early and take the necessary steps to prevent complications.
Danpong Healthcare’s Business Development Support Officer, Jane Gyapong, also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to preventive healthcare.
She said the donation would help reduce the financial burden associated with accessing essential medicines, particularly for vulnerable people who might otherwise struggle to obtain treatment.
The support from the two pharmaceutical companies is expected to strengthen the screening exercise by ensuring that beneficiaries receive both health assessments and appropriate medication.
The partnership also highlights the contribution private healthcare companies can make towards improving public health through community outreach and preventive care programs.
