Former Ghanaian Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo is expected to be flown overseas for specialized medical treatment after undergoing two emergency surgeries to remove shotgun pellets and glass fragments from her face, according to her aide.
The planned medical transfer is aimed at preventing further facial damage and ensuring she receives advanced reconstructive care following injuries sustained during a shooting incident on June 21, 2026.
According to information provided by her team, Adwoa Safo underwent two urgent surgical procedures after being struck by shotgun pellets and shattered glass during the incident. While the surgeries successfully removed much of the embedded debris, additional specialist treatment abroad has been recommended to support her recovery and minimize the risk of long-term complications.
The shooting reportedly occurred during a family-related dispute that escalated into violence, prompting a major law enforcement response.
Authorities have since arrested nine individuals in connection with the incident as investigations continue. In addition, the operating license of a security company linked to the case has been suspended pending further inquiries into its involvement and compliance with regulatory requirements.
The incident has generated widespread public attention, with many Ghanaians expressing concern over the former legislator’s condition and wishing her a speedy recovery.
Officials have yet to disclose the destination for her overseas treatment or provide a timeline for her travel, but aides say preparations are underway to ensure she receives the specialized care needed for her continued rehabilitation.
