The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied reports that the Minority Caucus in Parliament has summoned Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for questioning.
NPP Deputy National Communications Director, George Krobea Asante, said the reports are not true.
“The allegation that the Minority Caucus has summoned Hon. Afenyo-Markin for questioning is not true. There is nothing like that,” he said.
Mr Asante explained that the Minority Caucus normally meets at the beginning of parliamentary recalls and sittings.
He said these meetings are routine and have nothing to do with any disciplinary action against Afenyo-Markin.
“The Minority Caucus always meets at the start of every recall or meeting. This has nothing to do with Hon. Afenyo,” he explained.
NPP Supports Afenyo-Markin
Mr Asante also said the NPP and its MPs continue to support Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader.
“The entire Party and our MPs are solidly behind our indefatigable Minority Leader,” he said.
He urged the public to ignore the reports, describing them as fake news and misinformation.
“I entreat discerning people of Ghana to disregard such fake news and treat it with the contempt it deserves,” he added.
