The Akyode Traditional Council has dismissed reports that it plans to protest against the upcoming coronation of the Paramount Chief-elect of the Adele Traditional Area.
The council says it has been invited to the ceremony, scheduled for November 7, 2026, and intends to participate peacefully.
In a statement signed by the Paramount Chief of the Akyode Traditional Area, Nana Obonbo Sewura Lupuwura II, the council described the reports as false and distanced itself from any suggestion that it was organizing a protest.
It attributed the claims to mischief-makers seeking to create tension in the Nkwanta South Municipality.
No Conflict With Adele Traditional Authority
The Akyode Traditional Council said there was no conflict between it and the Adele traditional authority over the coronation.
It stressed that its intention was to honour the invitation and join the Adele Traditional Area for the occasion. The statement was intended to clarify the council’s position and reassure the public that it had no plans to disrupt the event.
The council also congratulated the Paramount Chief-elect of Adele ahead of the coronation.
Appeal for Peace and Unity
Traditional leaders urged members of the public, media practitioners and young people in the area to disregard unverified information and remain calm.
They emphasized the shared responsibility of the Adele, Akyode and Challa communities to promote peaceful coexistence and development in the municipality.
The council said maintaining harmony among the communities remained important as they worked towards their common development goals.
