Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has donated an undisclosed sum to Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, to support their preparations for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup.
Ayew made a surprise visit to the team’s training camp at the University of Ghana in Legon, where he interacted with players and technical staff and offered encouragement ahead of the tournament.
He declined to disclose the amount donated, saying the details would remain private between himself, the coaching staff and the team captain.
Beyond the financial contribution, Ayew urged the players to approach the competition with confidence and aim for the highest honor.
“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you, and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” he said.
The Black Challenge head into the World Cup as reigning African champions, having won back-to-back African Amputee Football Cup of Nations titles.
Their continental success provides a strong foundation as they prepare to compete against opponents from across the world in the 24-nation tournament.
Ayew’s donation adds support to the team’s preparations as the players and coaching staff work towards representing Ghana on the global stage.
