Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed gratitude to his constituents for their continued trust and support throughout his 18 years of parliamentary service.
Dr. Forson delivered the message during a grand durbar marking the Akwambo Festival at Enyan Abaasa in the Central Region.
Addressing chiefs, elders and residents, the Finance Minister said returning to the constituency always filled him with appreciation because of the warmth and loyalty shown to him over nearly two decades.
He explained that one of his main reasons for attending the festival was to personally thank the people for their patience, understanding and sustained confidence in his leadership.
Dr. Forson acknowledged that his responsibilities as Finance Minister under President John Dramani Mahama had reduced the frequency of his visits to the constituency.
He thanked residents for understanding that his national assignment requires considerable time and attention as the government works to improve Ghana’s economy.
Despite the demands of his ministerial position, Dr. Forson reaffirmed his commitment to the development and welfare of the people of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam.
He also paid tribute to the Paramount Chief of the Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Kwamena Akonu, for his guidance and leadership.
Recalling advice he received from the traditional ruler, Dr. Forson said: “Nana, you advised me to concentrate on the job, knowing that our people were in your care. Since my return, I have seen for myself that all is indeed well.”
The Finance Minister also acknowledged the chief’s call for him to represent the constituency with dignity and avoid conduct that could damage the area’s reputation.
Dr. Forson pledged to uphold discipline, integrity and ethical leadership while managing the country’s finances and carrying out his responsibilities in public office.
He assured constituents that their confidence in him would continue to guide his service at both the local and national levels.
