Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has urged his players to put the club’s interests first as they seek to recover from a difficult run of results.
Speaking on October 23, Carrick stressed that United’s history offers no guarantee of success and that the current squad must earn results through commitment and collective effort.
“Manchester United always has been, and always will be, bigger than any single individual,” he said.
His remarks followed a 4–1 Champions League defeat to Como and public criticism of his tactics from captain Bruno Fernandes. United’s winless run has stretched to four matches across all competitions, including league encounters with Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.
Carrick emphasized that humility and hard work remain essential to the club’s identity. He insisted that those expectations apply equally to him and his players, warning against allowing past achievements to create a sense of entitlement.
The coach’s message places collective responsibility at the center of United’s response to their slump, with improved performances needed to ease the pressure surrounding the team.
United, sitting 13th in the Premier League, next host Bournemouth on Sunday, October 25, as they attempt to return to winning ways.
