Colorado Rapids have completed the signing of Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq from Dutch Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar.
The 26-year-old attacker has agreed to a multi-year contract running through the 2027–28 Major League Soccer season, with the club holding an option for the 2028–29 campaign.
Sadiq will occupy an international roster slot and is expected to join his new teammates after receiving his P-1 visa. The two clubs reportedly reached an agreement worth approximately €1 million.
The Ghanaian arrives in MLS with considerable experience across European domestic and continental competitions. He played 85 matches for AZ Alkmaar in all competitions between 2023 and 2026, recording 18 goals and seven assists.
Sadiq was part of the AZ squad that won the 2025–26 KNVB Cup. His performances also earned him a place in the Eredivisie Team of the Month for September 2024.
Before moving to the Netherlands, the winger enjoyed a successful spell with Swedish club BK Häcken. He contributed 27 goals and eight assists in 43 appearances and played an important role in the club’s historic first Allsvenskan championship in 2022.
Sadiq began his football development at Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy before moving to Denmark to join FC Nordsjælland. He made 63 senior appearances for the Danish club as he established himself in European football.
At the international level, he has represented Ghana at the U-17 and U-20 levels. He was part of the Black Starlets squad that competed at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
Colorado moved to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closed following the record departure of Rafael Navarro to St. Louis CITY SC.
Rapids head coach Matt Wells praised Sadiq’s speed, pressing ability, defensive work rate and confidence in one-on-one situations. He believes the winger’s European experience will add width and a greater transitional threat to the team’s attack.
Sadiq’s arrival is expected to provide the Rapids with another dynamic attacking option as the club continues its push for a place in the MLS playoffs.
