Court Remands KC Luxury, Two Others Over Alleged ₦39bn Cocaine Shipment

Court Remands KC Luxury

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of luxury goods dealer and lifestyle influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, and two other defendants over an alleged cocaine trafficking operation involving 184.5 kilograms of cocaine.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said the seized cocaine was worth approximately ₦39 billion and was allegedly intended for export to the United Kingdom.

KC Luxury was arraigned alongside Boniface Freeman Ochoche Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo Patriarch on Friday, September 25, 2026, on a 22-count charge involving alleged conspiracy, cocaine trafficking, illegal exportation of narcotics and money laundering.

All three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Alleged International Drug Operation

According to the NDLEA, the defendants allegedly conspired between July 28 and August 1, 2026, to export 184.5kg of cocaine concealed in five separate consignments.

The agency alleged that the consignments were processed through a Lagos-based courier logistics company and shipped to London, United Kingdom.

The charge sheet, marked FHC/LAG/CR/755/2026, also names two other individuals, Atandare Oladipupo Oluwarotimi and Latifat Yusuf, who the NDLEA said had been arrested in London in connection with the case.

The prosecution further alleged that the consignments were shipped under the name Yemi Ejide, one of the aliases associated with KC Luxury.

Money Laundering Allegations

The case also includes allegations of money laundering.

Prosecutors alleged that ₦13.2 million was transferred from a Zenith Bank account linked to Mallamawa Ventures to BOT Express Logistics as payment connected to the shipment.

KC Luxury is also facing multiple counts relating to alleged financial transactions involving several companies and personal accounts. The NDLEA has alleged that some of the funds were used to acquire vehicles and landed properties.

The allegations remain subject to trial, and the defendants have denied the charges.

KC Luxury’s Arrest

KC Luxury was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13, 2026, at the departure area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The agency said he was arrested while allegedly attempting to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris, following the interception of the cocaine shipment.

According to the NDLEA, a subsequent search of the suspect and his residence in Banana Island led to the recovery of exotic vehicles, foreign currencies and jeweler that the agency believes may be connected to proceeds of the alleged illegal activity.

Before the arraignment, KC Luxury had challenged the continued detention through his legal team. The Federal High Court subsequently upheld an earlier order extending his detention while the NDLEA continued its investigation.

Court Orders Remand

Following the defendants’ pleas, NDLEA prosecutor Abu Ibrahim opposed their bail applications and asked the court to keep them in custody, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences.

The court subsequently ordered that KC Luxury, Sule and Patriarch remain in NDLEA custody pending further proceedings.

The defense had urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms, with KC Luxury’s lawyer, Abdulhakim Labi-Lawal, citing his client’s health needs.

The court is expected to rule on the bail applications on October 4, 2026.

The defendants remain presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty by a competent court.
