The Denu Circuit Court has sentenced 40-year-old Ghanaian driver Amos Kojo Andrews, also known as Adebayo, to five years in prison for human trafficking-related offences.
The sentence was handed down on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, following his conviction on six counts involving conspiracy and human trafficking.
Andrews faced three counts of conspiracy to commit human trafficking, contrary to Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960.
He was also charged with three counts of human trafficking under Sections 2(1) and 2(2) of the Human Trafficking Act, 2005, as amended.
The court imposed a five-year custodial sentence on each of the six counts. However, the terms will run concurrently, meaning Andrews will serve an effective prison sentence of five years.
Following his conviction, the court ordered that he be transferred to the Ho Central Prison in the Volta Region to serve his sentence.
The ruling forms part of continuing efforts by law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to dismantle human trafficking networks operating along Ghana’s domestic and cross-border transit routes.
