Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has reportedly expressed interest in becoming Ghana’s next head coach following Carlos Queiroz’s departure.
The 54-year-old communicated his interest through a local representative, proposing an attacking approach for the Black Stars.
Yorke described his preferred style as “the front-foot type of football” he has studied over the years.
The former Trinidad and Tobago captain holds a UEFA Pro License and has coaching experience at club and international levels. He guided Australia’s Macarthur FC to their first Australia Cup title in 2022 before taking charge of Trinidad and Tobago in November 2024. That tenure ended in March 2026.
Ghana is seeking a replacement for Queiroz after a disappointing start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. A five-member committee has been formed to assess candidates and recommend a successor.
However, the Ghana Football Association has not publicly confirmed an approach to Yorke or disclosed a formal offer. His reported interest therefore does not establish that he has been shortlisted for the position.
