The Ministry of Education has cautioned parents, guardians and students against fake Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement slips being circulated on social media.
The Ministry said some individuals are digitally altering placement slips and sharing them online to create the impression that students’ original school placements have been changed.
According to the Ministry, preliminary internal checks have revealed that some of the documents being circulated do not correspond with records generated through the official CSSPS platform. It noted that the barcodes and QR codes on the purported slips do not match the placement information displayed on the documents.
“The Ministry’s system and audit logs do not support the claims being made by the individuals circulating these materials,” the Ministry said in a statement signed by its Press Secretary, Hashmin Mohammed.
The Ministry said the evidence gathered so far suggests that the documents have been digitally manipulated to falsely indicate changes to students’ school placements. It described the development as a serious attempt to undermine confidence in the CSSPS placement process while creating unnecessary confusion and anxiety among students and their parents or guardians.
The matter has since been referred to the Cyber Security Authority and other relevant security agencies for investigation and appropriate action.
The Ministry is urging the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified placement slips or claims on social media. Parents, guardians and students have been advised to rely exclusively on placement information obtained through official CSSPS channels.
The Ministry further assured the public of its commitment to ensuring that the 2026 CSSPS placement exercise is conducted with transparency, fairness, integrity and accountability. It added that all legitimate concerns relating to placement will be investigated through the appropriate channels.
