The Ministry of Finance has announced that all 6,300 Ghana Education Service employees recruited in 2024 without initial financial clearance have received their outstanding salaries and arrears.
The announcement follows months of appeals from affected workers and groups such as the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff, which had repeatedly raised concerns over delays in placing newly recruited personnel on the government payroll.
According to the Ministry, the current administration inherited the unresolved cases after assuming office in 2025. The absence of financial clearance at the time of recruitment prevented the employees from receiving their salaries as scheduled.
To resolve the matter, the government secured special approval from Cabinet and subsequently issued the required financial clearance. Payments were then processed in four structured tranches to cover salaries and accumulated arrears owed to the affected workers.
The Ministry stated that it has completed all required action relating to the 6,300 employees and currently has no outstanding financial-clearance requests from the GES awaiting consideration.
Officials advised individual employees who may still be experiencing payroll discrepancies or delays to report their cases directly through the administrative and human resource channels of the Ghana Education Service.
Such cases may involve personal payroll information, documentation errors or other administrative challenges that require individual verification and assistance.
The Ministry assured affected personnel that the broader financial-clearance process had been concluded and that any remaining concerns should now be addressed by the GES on a case-by-case basis.
