The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with an armed robbery involving a gold dealer at Wassa Honny, near Wassa Akropong.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led investigation that lasted several months after the robbery was reported in March 2026.
According to the police, the incident occurred on March 11 when gold dealer Mr. Oris Oduro and an Okada rider were returning from Tamakloe.
The two men were allegedly intercepted by armed attackers who threatened them at gunpoint before taking their valuables.
The robbers reportedly escaped with GH¢24,000 in cash, gold valued at GH¢94,530 and two mobile phones.
Following months of intelligence gathering, police conducted coordinated operations at Duaso and Domeabra between July 21 and 22, 2026.
The operations led to the arrests of Kwabena Amuah, also known as IK; Mohammed Nasir, alias Mallam; Samuel Agyei, popularly called Okese-1; and Kofi Gyasi, alias Brefo.
The four suspects were arraigned before the Wassa Akropong District Court on July 23, 2026, and remanded into police custody pending further investigations and legal proceedings.
Police have also launched a manhunt for another alleged accomplice identified only as Agogo.
The Western Central Regional Police Command has assured residents that efforts are underway to locate the remaining suspect and bring all individuals connected to the robbery to justice.
The public has been encouraged to provide the police with credible information that could assist in tracing the wanted suspect. Authorities have also warned against harboring or assisting anyone linked to the case.
