GCB Bank’s Helmet Campaign Reaches Over 500 Riders in Accra

GCB staff reach more than 500 Accra riders

Employees of GCB Bank PLC have undertaken a road safety campaign across Accra’s Central Business District, reaching more than 500 commercial motorcyclists, delivery riders and pillion passengers.

Dubbed “Helmet On, Life On,” the campaign focused on improving helmet use and promoting responsible riding practices in some of the capital’s busiest commercial areas.

The exercise covered Makola Market, Tudu, Kantamanto, Agbogbloshie and the Kinbu-High Street corridors, where motorcycles are widely used for transportation, trading and delivery services.

Organized in partnership with the National Road Safety Authority and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, the initiative provided participants with certified training in defensive riding and hazard identification.

Riders were also educated on proper helmet use and maintenance, emergency response procedures and measures for reducing the risk of crashes and serious injuries.

The outreach represents the 16th project completed under GCB Bank’s 2026 Staff Community Impact Program. The employee-led program is coordinating 95 community projects nationwide, with a broader target of positively affecting one million lives across Ghana.

As part of efforts to sustain the campaign, a network of Safe Rider Ambassadors was established to continue promoting road safety within commercial transport and delivery networks.

The ambassadors are expected to encourage consistent helmet use, responsible riding and greater compliance with traffic regulations among their colleagues.

Through the initiative, GCB Bank employees aim to contribute to reducing motorcycle-related injuries and deaths while building a stronger culture of road safety in Accra’s commercial communities.
