The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection will assign social welfare officers to monitor the wellbeing of the children of fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her husband, Harold Norman, amid an ongoing domestic violence case.
Sector Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey announced the intervention after meeting with Norman following his discharge from hospital. She had previously visited Nana Akua Addo and the family to offer support.
The officers will assess the children’s home environment and help safeguard their emotional wellbeing as authorities address the allegations. The ministry is also providing psychosocial support to the family.
Public concern intensified on October 6, 2026, after videos circulated online showing Nana Akua Addo in hospital with visible injuries. Separate footage appeared to show a family confrontation during which Norman allegedly struck one of their daughters.
According to the Ghana Police Service, Nana Akua Addo submitted a petition to the Criminal Investigations Department on August 20, 2026, alleging physical, emotional and economic abuse.
Police said Norman was arrested on August 27 and granted enquiry bail two days later. He did not attend a scheduled court appearance on October 7 because he had been admitted to hospital.
Investigators confirmed his hospital admission and indicated that he would be arraigned upon discharge. The information provided does not establish whether that court appearance has since taken place.
The ministry has stressed that domestic disagreements or provocation cannot justify physical violence. It is working with the police and the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit to support the family while the case proceeds.
The allegations against Norman remain subject to the legal process. The ministry’s intervention is focused on protecting the children and ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.
