Ghanaian Couple Attacked and Robbed at Gunpoint at Bronx Bus Stop

A Ghanaian couple were attacked and robbed at gunpoint while waiting at a bus stop in the Bronx, New York, on.

The incident happened shortly before 5 a.m. on Gun Hill Road, where the 73-year-old man had accompanied his 61-year-old wife as she waited for a bus to work.

Their daughter, Emelia Sabah, said her father walked her mother to the bus stop every weekday morning to help ensure she travelled safely.

Four masked attackers

According to Sabah, four masked individuals riding motorcycles approached the couple and attacked them.

She said two of the attackers confronted and beat her father, while the other two assaulted her mother. Sabah said her mother was struck in the stomach and hit in the mouth with a gun.

The attackers fled with the woman’s purse, which police said contained her medication, a debit card and $100 in cash.

Sabah said the incident had left her mother, who works as a home attendant, afraid to take the bus. She called for the attackers to be identified and removed from the streets.

The New York City Police Department is investigating the robbery and has been searching for the four suspects. No arrests had been reported in the available accounts as of October 30.

Anyone with information can contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
