Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Sanni Jajah, has died in Jeddah.
He passed away on Saturday evening, August 8, 2026. The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.
His death was announced by his uncle, Yussif Issaka Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
“With a heavy heart, I regret to inform you all that I have lost my nephew, Sani Jajah, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia,” the MP wrote in a Facebook post.
He said the family would communicate details of the funeral and burial arrangements at the appropriate time.
Alhaji Sanni Jajah was appointed Ghana’s Deputy Head of Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by President John Dramani Mahama on September 11, 2025.
Stationed at Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Riyadh, he worked with Ambassador Alhaji Said Sinare to advance relations between Ghana and Saudi Arabia.
His responsibilities included supporting consular services and helping to protect the interests and welfare of Ghanaians living and working in the kingdom.
He was also part of the diplomatic team involved in organizing Ghana’s participation in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. The assignment required coordination among Ghanaian authorities, Saudi officials and pilgrimage organizers to support Ghanaian Muslims travelling to the holy sites.
News of his death has prompted tributes from relatives, colleagues, political figures and members of the Ghanaian community in Saudi Arabia.
Many have remembered him for his humility, dedication to public service and commitment to the welfare of Ghanaian citizens abroad.
