Luton Town forward Gideon Kodua will miss the remainder of 2026 after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury, the League One club has confirmed.
The 22-year-old sustained the injury during the Hatters’ EFL Trophy encounter against Colchester United and was substituted shortly before the half-hour mark. Subsequent scans established that an operation was necessary.
Kodua has since undergone the procedure and started rehabilitation with Luton’s medical team at the club’s training base, The Brache. He is expected to remain unavailable until the new year.
The setback interrupts his first season as a permanent Luton player following his summer move from West Ham United. He had previously spent the 2025–26 campaign on loan with the Hatters.
The Ghanaian attacker has contributed one goal and one assist in seven League One appearances this season, and his absence reduces Luton’s attacking options ahead of their meeting with Wycombe Wanderers.
Manager Jack Wilshere has expressed frustration over the squad’s growing injury concerns, with Kodua becoming the fourth player sidelined by a hamstring problem. The Luton boss said the club was reviewing its processes following the series of similar injuries.
While the club has indicated that Kodua will be out until 2027, a specific date for his return to competitive action has not been announced.
