The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has entered into a major partnership with MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited and Quest Medical Imaging to improve access to high-quality diagnostic services nationwide.
The agreement is expected to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system by supporting early disease detection, improving clinical decision-making and helping patients receive timely and appropriate treatment.
A key focus of the collaboration will be people living with chronic and non-communicable diseases, which often require regular laboratory testing, medical imaging and long-term clinical monitoring.
Under the partnership, GMTF’s mandate to support the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases will be combined with the specialist diagnostic capabilities of MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana and Quest Medical Imaging.
The initiative is also intended to reduce barriers that prevent patients from accessing essential tests, particularly those who may struggle with the cost or availability of diagnostic services.
GMTF Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku emphasized the importance of dependable testing in the treatment process, noting that accurate diagnostics form the foundation of effective medical care.
Dr. Paul Sekyere-Nyantakyi, Chief Executive Officer of MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana, said the partnership aligns with the company’s commitment to making reliable testing more accessible and equitable across the country.
Through coordinated laboratory and medical imaging services, healthcare professionals are expected to gain access to better information when diagnosing illnesses, selecting treatments and monitoring patients’ progress.
The long-term objective is to establish a sustainable and equitable diagnostic healthcare network capable of serving patients in different parts of Ghana, while strengthening the country’s response to chronic and non-communicable diseases.
