Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service have successfully extinguished a vehicle fire at the Presby Church Junction in Suhum, Eastern Region.
The incident, which involved a Daewoo Matiz, occurred on Monday, August 3, 2026, prompting a swift response from firefighters stationed at the Suhum Municipal Fire Station.
The fire crew managed to bring the flames under control and restricted the damage to the vehicle, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby structures and other properties within the busy area.
Preliminary investigations by the GNFS indicated that the fire was caused by fuel leaking from the vehicle’s tank.
Although the car sustained partial fire damage, the firefighters’ timely intervention prevented its complete destruction. No casualties or injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
The GNFS has advised motorists to pay close attention to signs of fuel leakage and other mechanical or electrical faults that could cause fires.
Drivers have also been encouraged to conduct regular maintenance checks and keep functional portable fire extinguishers in their vehicles to respond quickly during emergencies.
The Fire Service further urged members of the public to contact emergency responders immediately when a vehicle catches fire instead of attempting unsafe interventions that could expose them to burns, explosions or toxic smoke. Ghana National Fire Service
