Grandmother and Grandson Remanded Over Death

An elderly woman and her grandson have been remanded into police custody by the Kasoa Akweley District Court over their alleged involvement in the assault and death of young Ghanaian social media sensation Kobby the Autotune Boy.

The two suspects, identified as Akua Mansa, also known as Daavi, and her grandson Moses Aful, were arrested and brought before the court following widespread public anger and calls for justice after the young creator’s death.

The case has attracted national attention, with many Ghanaians expressing concern over violence involving minors and the circumstances that led to the loss of a rising internet personality.

Dispute Over Mango Allegedly Led to Fatal Assault

According to the prosecution, the incident began in early July 2026 following a confrontation on the suspects’ property.

Authorities allege that Kobby was found picking a mango from a tree located on the property belonging to Akua Mansa and Moses Aful. The prosecution claims that the disagreement escalated, resulting in the pair allegedly assaulting the young boy.

Following the incident, images showing Kobby with severe swelling on his face circulated widely on social media, sparking outrage among users across Ghana.

Reports indicate that the injuries he sustained during the alleged assault later developed into serious medical complications, which eventually led to his death.

Court Orders Remand as Investigations Continue

During the court proceedings, the Kasoa Akweley District Court ordered that both suspects remain in police custody while investigations continue.

The remand order is intended to allow authorities to complete further inquiries, including forensic examinations, medical assessments, and other evidence-gathering processes related to the case.

The accused are expected to return to court on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, when prosecutors are anticipated to provide further updates, including additional evidence and relevant medical reports.

The suspects have not yet been convicted, and the allegations against them will be subject to judicial review as the legal process progresses.

Ghana Mourns a Rising Social Media Talent

Kobby the Autotune Boy gained popularity across Ghana’s social media platforms because of his distinctive voice, which many viewers described as naturally resembling the sound of an electronically modified singing voice.

His entertaining videos quickly attracted a large following, making him a recognizable figure among young Ghanaians online.

His growing popularity also earned him a feature appearance on the widely watched television programme Onua Showtime, where he appeared alongside his manager.

Death Sparks National Conversation

The death of Kobby the Autotune Boy has triggered widespread discussions about child protection, community disputes, and the responsibilities of adults in safeguarding young people.

Many social media users have called for a thorough investigation and justice for the young entertainer, while others have highlighted the need for stronger community awareness and peaceful conflict resolution.

As the legal proceedings continue, the case remains under close public attention, with many awaiting further developments from the police and the courts.
