Ghanaian singer Gyakie has revealed that her ultimate musical ambition is to collaborate with Nigerian-British music icon Sade Adu.
Speaking with Nikki Samonas on Joy Prime’s Changes, the “Forever” hitmaker described the prospect of recording with Sade as a major career milestone.
Gyakie explained that her admiration goes beyond Sade’s reputation, pointing to a strong connection with the themes and sound of her music. She noted that love features prominently in Sade’s songs, reflecting a subject that also shapes much of her own work.
The singer also highlighted Sade’s lyrical approach and distinctive vocal tone as qualities she finds particularly appealing. In her view, their musical styles complement each other, creating the potential for a compelling collaboration.
Gyakie’s choice echoes that of Nigerian singer Tems, who has also named Sade as a dream collaborator. Their admiration reflects the veteran musician’s influence on a younger generation of African artistes exploring R&B, soul and Afro-fusion.
For Gyakie, a collaboration with Sade remains an aspiration rooted in shared musical interests and a deep appreciation of the legendary singer’s artistry.
