Officials of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have educated inmates of the Ho Central Prison and Ho Female Prison on the dangers of drug abuse as part of activities to commemorate this year’s World Drug Day.
The sensitisation programme was led by ANCO Millicent Marfo and facilitated by Superintendent Ben Adomah, an Assistant Physician at the Reformers Health Centre. The session focused on raising awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and its impact on individuals and society.
The initiative also sought to promote healthy lifestyle choices, support the rehabilitation of inmates, and prepare them for successful reintegration into society after serving their sentences.
During the interactive session, inmates were taken through the stages of addiction and educated on how substance abuse affects a person’s physical, mental, and psychological well-being. They were also encouraged to make informed decisions and embrace drug-free lifestyles as part of their rehabilitation journey.
