Jordan Ayew Reveals Extraordinary Tattoo Promise if Ghana Wins Major International Trophy

Ghana Team Captan

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has revealed a deeply personal promise tied to his international football ambitions: if he helps lead the Black Stars to a major international title, he plans to commemorate the achievement with a giant trophy tattoo covering his entire back.

The veteran forward made the revelation during an appearance on the Beyond the Whistle podcast, where he discussed the stories behind the extensive collection of tattoos that already cover much of his body.

Saving His Back for a Historic Ghana Triumph

Ayew explained that nearly all of his existing tattoos are dedicated to family members and loved ones. His arms and torso feature portraits, names, and tributes to people who have played important roles in his life, including his mother, children, brother, sister, and aunt.

During the conversation, the Ghanaian star was asked whether he planned to use his back for future tattoos, especially after running out of space while trying to honor additional family members.

His answer revealed the special significance he has reserved for that area.

According to Ayew, his back has been intentionally left blank because he wants it to serve as a canvas for the greatest achievement of his football career.

“If ever I win a World Cup, it’s going to be on my back. A big one,” he said. “I’m saving it for the trophy I win with Ghana. Hopefully, God willing, one day as long as I’m playing. The moment I win, it will happen.”

Family at the Heart of His Tattoos

The 34-year-old striker described his tattoos as more than artwork, explaining that each piece represents important relationships and milestones in his life.

Many of the designs are dedicated to close relatives, reflecting the strong family values that have remained central throughout his football journey. His body art serves as a permanent reminder of the people who have supported him during his rise from youth football to becoming one of Ghana’s most recognizable international players.

Yet despite his extensive collection, Ayew has deliberately preserved the largest available space on his body for what he hopes will become a historic sporting achievement.

Carrying the Responsibility of Captaincy

Ayew’s comments come at a crucial period for the Black Stars as the national team continues its transition under a new generation of players.

As captain, he carries significant responsibility both on and off the pitch, serving as a leader for a squad determined to restore Ghana’s place among Africa’s football elite.

Throughout recent years, Ayew has consistently spoken about his desire to bring major international success back to Ghana, a country with one of the richest football traditions on the continent but which has not won the Africa Cup of Nations since 1982.

Chasing Football’s Biggest Prizes

While Ayew specifically mentioned the FIFA World Cup during the podcast, his broader ambition remains helping Ghana secure a major international trophy, whether through a historic World Cup campaign or a long-awaited Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

For the Leicester City forward, lifting silverware with the Black Stars would represent the crowning achievement of a career that has spanned more than a decade at the highest level of international football.

And if that dream becomes reality, fans already know exactly how Ayew plans to celebrate it: with a massive trophy tattoo permanently etched across his back as a tribute to Ghana’s greatest footballing success.
