Research shows 11 cocaine cases among 28 Ghana-linked narcotics seizures recorded between March 2025 and September 22, 2026.
The review covers interceptions within Ghana and overseas shipments reported to have departed from or passed through the country. It estimates the seized cocaine’s street value at between $1.3 billion and $1.7 billion.
Seven cocaine cases involved domestic seizures, while four were recorded abroad. The overseas cases accounted for approximately 12.4 tones, compared with about 3.6 tones intercepted locally.
Major foreign interceptions included nearly 4,500 kilograms in Amsterdam, 2,829 kilograms in Antwerp and approximately 3.9 tones in Dunkirk, France.
The tally also includes a reported December 2025 Antwerp seizure of 1,158 kilograms. However, the report acknowledges uncertainty over whether it was separate from the November case, making the overseas total provisional.
Ghana’s largest domestic interception involved 3,319.68 kilograms concealed beneath sand in a tipper truck at Pedu Junction, Cape Coast.
The findings raise questions about cargo screening and coordination among enforcement agencies. However, seizure figures alone do not establish the full scale of trafficking or demonstrate how rapidly it is growing.
