JUSAG Threatens Indefinite Strike From November 2 Over Delayed Salary Review

The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has threatened to begin a nationwide indefinite strike on Monday, November 2, 2026, unless the government approves and implements the Judicial Council’s recommendations for its members’ 2026 salary review.

The association has given the government until Sunday, November 1, to address its demands, warning that further delays will trigger industrial action.

Following a meeting of its National Executive Council, JUSAG formally notified the National Labor Commission of the planned strike in a letter dated October 23, 2026.

The association, whose General Secretary is Abdulai Yakubu, is demanding approval of the salary recommendations by the end of October, implementation of the revised salaries in November and full payment of arrears covering January to October 2026.

JUSAG said its members had waited ten months for the review while other public sector workers had benefited from salary adjustments since January.

It also pointed out that Organized Labor was already negotiating base pay for 2027, even as judicial staff continued to await implementation of their 2026 review.

According to the association, the prolonged delay has undermined staff morale and deepened frustration among workers.

JUSAG cited Article 149 of the 1992 Constitution and Constitutional Instrument 141 as the framework governing its members’ conditions of service.

The proposed strike could disrupt court administration and delay proceedings across the country if the dispute remains unresolved by the deadline.
