Justin Kodua Frimpong has secured another term as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), winning the contest at the party’s National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Kodua polled 4,486 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Sylvester Tetteh, who received 1,340 votes. Eugene Boakye Antwi and Dr Charles Dwamena also contested the position.
The conference began on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and continued into the early hours of Sunday, October 4, as delegates elected national officers to guide the party’s affairs.
His re-election preserves continuity in the NPP’s administration as it strengthens its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections. Kodua first became General Secretary in 2022, defeating then-incumbent John Boadu.
The two will now serve together in the national leadership, with Boadu elected National Chairman at the same conference. Their responsibilities include coordinating the party’s organisational work and supporting preparations for its next electoral campaign.
Following the announcement of the results, Kodua thanked delegates for renewing his mandate and pledged to continue working to strengthen the party. He emphasized dedication, discipline and unity as the NPP seeks to regain the confidence of voters.
The newly elected executives take office with more than two years remaining before the December 2028 elections, providing time to address internal divisions and coordinate preparations across the party’s national, regional and constituency structures.
