Irene Atubiga, the Chief Executive Officer of Kussa Shea Bliss, has been shot dead alongside her uncle, George Atubiga, at their residence at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Greater Accra.
The incident occurred on Friday, October 30, 2026. Irene, 47, was a mother of two young boys, while her uncle was 57.
The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the killings and declared a suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, wanted.
Alleged Financial Dispute
Police say preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting may have been connected to a financial dispute involving George and Osei Anto.
According to investigators, George had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the suspect but had not repaid the money. A confrontation reportedly occurred at the residence, during which Osei Anto allegedly shot George and Irene.
Police have arrested a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni in connection with the case. Osei Anto remains wanted as investigations continue.
The Ghana Police Service has offered a GH¢100,000 reward for credible information leading to his arrest.
From Banking to Entrepreneurship
Before establishing Kussa Shea Bliss, Irene worked at Ecobank Ghana. She later founded the shea-based skincare business with a commitment to supporting rural women in Northern Ghana.
Her work as an entrepreneur earned her recognition as the 2026 Triumph Entrepreneur of the Year.
Family members have remembered Irene as a dedicated leader and advocate for justice. Her death and that of her uncle have left relatives and members of their community mourning.
