President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Ghana Police Service for its work in protecting lives and property, citing fewer unresolved murder cases and highway robberies as evidence of improving public safety.
Speaking at the commissioning of an 85-bed ward complex at the Police Hospital in Accra on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the President expressed appreciation to the police administration and encouraged officers to sustain their efforts.

“This police administration is doing a yeoman’s job,” he said, conveying the nation’s gratitude to personnel for their service.
Mahama said the work of security personnel had contributed to Ghana’s reputation as a safe destination in West Africa. He linked that reputation to the confidence visitors have in the country and stressed the importance of maintaining effective policing.
The President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing the logistical support officers need to discharge their duties. He assured the Service that the administration would continue to equip it to strengthen public protection and combat crime.
Although Mahama highlighted improvements, the reported remarks did not include figures or a comparison period for the decline in unresolved murders and highway robberies.
His address accompanied the opening of the hospital’s new ward complex, adding healthcare capacity as the government reiterated its support for the Police Service.
