President John Dramani Mahama paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his private residence on Monday afternoon, October 19, 2026, to enquire about his wellbeing and exchange views on national and international developments.
Sharing photographs and details of the visit on his official Facebook page, President Mahama said the meeting offered an opportunity to check on the former leader and discuss matters of shared interest.
“I passed by the residence of President J.A. Kufuor this afternoon to check on him, find out how he’s doing, and discuss key national and international issues,” he wrote.
The President did not disclose the specific issues discussed or announce any decisions arising from the encounter.
The visit brought together two leaders associated with Ghana’s main political parties. Mahama represents the National Democratic Congress, while Kufuor served as president under the New Patriotic Party from 2001 to 2009.
Photographs of the meeting attracted positive reactions on social media, with some commentators welcoming the interaction as an example of cordial relations across political divides.
The courtesy call provided an opportunity for personal engagement and an exchange of perspectives between the sitting President and one of his predecessors, beyond their respective party affiliations.
