Ghana defender Marvin Senaya has resumed running on grass, taking another step towards returning to action after a hamstring injury sustained at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 25-year-old right-back has been sidelined since July, when he was forced off within the opening 13 minutes of Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32.
Senaya underwent successful surgery in Paris after the tournament before returning to AJ Auxerre to continue his rehabilitation.
His injury has kept him out of the French club’s opening seven Ligue 1 matches this season. Although his return to running represents progress, no date has been confirmed for his competitive comeback.
The Ghana Football Association and Auxerre are working together to monitor his recovery as he progresses through his rehabilitation program.
Senaya was among Ghana’s notable performers at the World Cup before his injury, earning recognition for his defensive contributions and reportedly leading the tournament’s tackling rankings at that stage.
His eventual return would strengthen Auxerre’s defensive options and make him available for consideration for future Black Stars assignments.
