Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School in Saltpond, Central Region, will celebrate its 66th Anniversary Speech and Prize-Giving Day from Thursday, September 24, to Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The four-day celebration will be hosted by the 2001 year group of the Mfantsiman Old Girls’ Association under the theme, “Unlearn to Relearn: The Art of Adaptability in a Rapidly Changing World.”
The theme highlights the importance of preparing students to respond effectively to changes in education, technology and the workplace. It will also encourage them to embrace adaptability, digital literacy and practical skills needed to succeed in modern careers.
Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu is expected to attend the main ceremony as the special guest of honor.
MOGA President Mrs Henrietta Opokua Amissah and the school’s headmistress, Mrs Roseline A. Sowah-Tagoe, said the anniversary would not only commemorate the institution’s achievements but also support efforts to equip current students for the future.
Activities will begin on Thursday, September 24, with a welcome street carnival for returning alumni, invited guests, students and members of the Saltpond community.
A health walk will take place on Friday, September 25, alongside the “Share2Care” medical outreach initiative. The program will include the presentation of donations to Saltpond Hospital as part of the association’s contribution to healthcare delivery in the area.
Professionals from MOGA will also hold career guidance and mentorship sessions for students. The sessions are expected to expose learners to different career paths and provide practical advice on education, professional development and workplace expectations.
Friday’s program will further feature the school’s traditional cassava party and an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding students and staff members.
The main 66th Anniversary Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 26. Students who have excelled in academics, leadership, sports and other extracurricular activities will be honored during the event.
An evening social program inspired by the music, fashion and culture of the 1990s will follow the main ceremony.
The anniversary will conclude on Sunday, September 27, with a Founders’ Day and Thanksgiving Service celebrating the school’s history, achievements and contribution to the education of girls in Ghana.
Ahead of the celebration, MOGA is mobilizing resources to complete an ultra-modern ICT library at the school. The legacy project is expected to expand access to digital learning tools and strengthen research, innovation and technology-based education among students.
