South Africa’s Nedbank has emerged as Africa’s highest-ranked company on Forbes’ World’s Best Employers 2026 list, placing 26th globally. The bank also confirmed the recognition through its official social media channels.
South African companies account for nine of the continent’s top ten entries, with Nigeria’s Guaranty Trust Bank the only exception, according to Business Insider Africa’s breakdown of the ranking. Banking and financial services dominate the African contingent.
Standard Bank Group follows Nedbank at 54th globally, while Absa Group ranks 98th and FirstRand takes 104th place. Telecommunications company MTN Group is ranked 133rd, while Guaranty Trust Bank occupies 277th position.
The other companies named in the African top ten are Investec, Sasol, Mediclinic International and Sanlam, extending representation to industrial operations, healthcare and insurance.
Compiled by Forbes in partnership with Statista, the ranking draws on employee assessments of multinational employers. Respondents evaluate workplace factors including benefits, training, career development and their willingness to recommend their employer.
The African entries are drawn from the worldwide list rather than a separate continental survey. Rankings apply to corporate groups, meaning they should not be interpreted as individual assessments of every subsidiary or national office.
