Beatrice Owarewaa Siaw, a New Patriotic Party parliamentary aspirant for the Asante Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has reportedly died at the age of 41.
The politician and businesswoman, popularly known as Nana Yaa, passed away at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Reports indicate that she fell ill earlier that Saturday and initially sought medical attention at a health facility in Mampong. She was subsequently referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The exact circumstances surrounding her death have not been publicly disclosed. Her family and medical authorities have also not announced an official cause.
Nana Yaa was a member of the NPP’s Council of Patrons and had declared her intention to contest the party’s parliamentary primary in the Asante Mampong Constituency ahead of the 2028 general election.
She had been engaging party delegates and residents as part of her campaign to secure the NPP’s parliamentary nomination. Her political agenda focused on industrialization, employment creation, youth empowerment and the general development of the constituency.
Beyond politics, Nana Yaa was widely recognized as a businesswoman and philanthropist who supported several community development projects with her personal resources.
Her interventions reportedly covered education, healthcare, sanitation, security and access to clean water. They included the renovation of Krobo Junior High School, the construction of boreholes in Kofiase and Apaa, support for the Asaam Police Station and the establishment of VIP wards at the Asante Mampong Government Hospital.
She had also announced plans to establish two factories in the municipality to create sustainable employment opportunities and reduce economic dependence among young people.
News of her death has left NPP supporters, residents and members of the Asante Mampong political community in mourning.
Official statements from her family and party executives, as well as details about funeral arrangements, are expected to be released later.
