The Ghana Passport Office has debunked claims circulating on social media that actress and entrepreneur Fella Makafui has been issued a Service or Diplomatic Passport, describing the reports as false and misleading.
In a statement published on its official social media platforms, the Passport Office urged the public to disregard the claims, stressing that Fella Makafui holds only an ordinary Ghanaian passport. “Please disregard and treat with contempt the blatant falsehood that Fella Makafui has been issued a Service or Diplomatic Passport,” the Office stated, adding that she “holds and uses Ghana’s prestigious Ordinary Passport like every other Ghanaian and nothing more.”
The clarification follows a social media post by pro-NPP commentator P. K. Sarpong, who alleged that Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa had facilitated the issuance of a service passport to the actress. In the post, Sarpong claimed that the minister had favoured Fella Makafui while ignoring religious leaders Nigel Gaisie and Badu Kobi.
The Passport Office also cautioned against the spread of misinformation, urging individuals to verify facts before making public claims. It warned that the dissemination of false information has the potential to mislead the public and undermine confidence in state institutions.
