Police Arrest Five Suspected Armed Robbery and Landguard Syndicate Members in Accra

Ghana police arrested

The Accra Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID), has arrested five individuals suspected to be members of an armed robbery and “landguard” syndicate operating in the Greater Accra Region.

The suspects were apprehended on July 17, 2026, during a targeted intelligence-led operation at Sapeiman Faase, following investigations into alleged violent criminal activities linked to land-related intimidation and armed attacks in the area.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service to dismantle organized criminal networks and improve security in communities affected by landguard-related violence.

Five Suspects Taken Into Custody

In an official statement signed by Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the Police identified the arrested suspects as:

  • Torgbui Agah Semaglo – 50 years
  • Cyril Kassenu – 26 years
  • Shadrach Agah Semaglo – 22 years
  • William Kweku Sedanu – 21 years
  • Kingsford Agah Semaglo – 18 years

Police said the suspects are believed to have been connected to a criminal network involved in violent activities, including armed robbery and landguard operations.

Weapons and Tactical Equipment Recovered

During a search of the suspects’ operational base, investigators uncovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities.

Items retrieved during the operation included:

Firearms
  • One pump-action shotgun.
  • One Stoeger ST-R9 pistol.
  • One dummy Austria replica training pistol.
Ammunition
  • Twelve BB gauge cartridges.
  • Three rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition.
  • One high-caliber AK-47 assault rifle round.
Other Items
  • Two kitchen knives.
  • One heavy tactical jackknife.
  • A concealment face mask.
  • A ritual talisman.

The Police said the recovery of the weapons and equipment highlights the level of preparation and organization within the suspected group.

Ongoing Investigations and Profiling

The five suspects are currently being held at the Regional Police Headquarters, where they are assisting investigators with further inquiries.

Detectives are conducting detailed background checks to establish the suspects’ criminal history, identify possible accomplices, and determine the full extent of the syndicate’s operations.

Police forensic teams are also examining the recovered firearms and ammunition, including conducting ballistic analysis to determine whether the weapons may have been used in previous criminal cases reported within the region.

Police Launch Follow-Up Operations

Following the arrests, the Accra Regional Police Command has intensified surveillance and follow-up operations within the Sapeiman enclave to identify and apprehend other individuals who may be linked to the syndicate.

Security officials say the operation is part of a broader strategy to combat landguard activities, armed robbery, and organized crime across Greater Accra.

The Police have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure communities remain safe and that individuals involved in violent criminal activities are brought before the law.

Authorities have also urged members of the public to continue providing relevant information that can assist security agencies in identifying criminal networks and preventing future attacks.
