The Bono East Regional Police Command has arrested two teachers of Techiman Senior High School following the circulation of a video showing the alleged assault of a male student.
The teachers have been identified as Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe, an English teacher, and Ameyaw Adusa, an ICT teacher. They are reportedly in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to preliminary police findings, the incident occurred on the school campus at about 4:00 p.m. on October 23, 2026.
The teachers allegedly confronted the 17-year-old final-year student after accusing him of assaulting two first-year students.
A video circulating on social media appears to show two men repeatedly kicking, striking and stepping on the student’s head while he is on the ground. The footage has attracted widespread public attention.
Education Authorities Order Investigation
The Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have also begun an administrative response to the incident.
At the direction of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, Deputy Education Minister Dr. Clement Abas Apaak referred the matter to the GES Director-General for an immediate investigation.
Dr. Apaak said misconduct by any stakeholder, including staff, parents or students, would not be tolerated, and emphasized the need to maintain safe school environments.
The school’s disciplinary committee has held an initial hearing and is preparing a report for submission to the GES through the Regional Directorate.
